Located on the IU School of Medicine campus in Indianapolis, Research III is home to the school's cancer research initiatives.

In this building scientists and research are working to unlock the puzzle of cancer. They also work to develop cancer treatments. As stated on the cancer.iu.edu website, "Other specialized cancer research initiatives moving into the new building include experimental and developmental therapeutics, the tumor microenvironment program and hematopoiesis and immunology. Research III also will be home to the Center for Immunobiology, an interdisciplinary group of faculty that studies organ transplant immunology, autoimmunity, innate and acquired immunity and the immunobiology of cancer."

Working and building HVAC and plumbing in such a building required some special care. Paul Howard, retired foreman for Greiner Brothers and a Project Manager at the time, remembers it well. "The hardest part was the sixth floor," says Howard. "It housed the ultimate clean room and had massive amounts of duct work. All the conduit had to be installed in very compact spaces -  it seemed like solving a Rubic's cube at times. Our guys did a great job working in such tight conditions."

The challenging environment allowed Greiner to show how well they work in unique environments.  Howard continues, "The men had quite a challenge in the sixth floor Mechanical Room - with the large air handling units, exhaust fans and sloped steel structures.  This gave them a challenge to install all of the steam, chilled water & heat recovery piping to each area - let alone the storm piping, exhaust & large supply duct."
